This time of the year can be a sad and lonely period for many of the elderly. It is hard too for families who can feel grief as their loved one is living with dementia. The good news is that our artists continue to travel far and wide bringing joy, warmth and humour to over 1500 individual people many of whom have depression, are isolated and living with dementia. We also are sharing the magic of what our artist engagement brings with over 4500 others living in aged care every week and the dedicated staff that care for them. Our artists travel to residential aged care homes in cities and country towns as well as remote areas such a Burke, Walgett and Wee Waa each week.
See the film that started the Arts Health Institute, The Smile Within that documents the world's first large scale study on the use of humor in aged care now known as Play Up or the Valet Visit (it was featured on ABC in 2012)
