Artists In the House

Is there an artist in the house?

“Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.” - Pablo Picasso

The Arts Health Institute is a social enterprise that brings the arts and health together to change worlds. We employ professional artists with specialist skills to provide meaningful creative experiences to people and now there are exciting new opportunities.

We are currently looking for experienced professionals from all arts disciplines including dance, visual arts, theatre, literature and music to facilitate an uplifting and engaging experience for elders living in a residential aged care facility.

The aim of these experiences is to build social engagement and self-esteem, lift mood through self-expression, and to improve quality of life.

Are you interested in regular and rewarding work? We are particularly interested in hearing from artists who are in the Sydney, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast regions initially.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Professional experience in music, dance, visual arts, literature and theatre.
  • Commitment to at least one regular weekly half-day session.
  • Ability to work in a team and with health care professionals.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills that are responsive to the needs of the individuals and the group.
  • Ability to mobilise individuals and groups by being empathetic, inclusive, dynamic and fun
  • A high level of motivation and enjoy the company of older people.
